VOFD341A/VOFD343A: Enhanced High Peak Output IGBT and MOSFET Drivers for Power Electronics Applications
Vishay Intertechnology unveiled two new IGBT and MOSFET drivers with the VOFD341A and VOFD343A optocouplers. They have a high peak output of 3 A and 4 A, making them ideal for devices driving IGBTs with ratings up to 1200 V/100 A. They consist of AlGaAs LED that are optically coupled to an integrated circuit with a power-output stage in a compact, high-isolation stretched SO-6 package. These drivers are ideal for industrial inverters, AC and brushless DC motor drives, and UPS.
VOFD341A and VOFD343A offer high operating temperatures of up to +125 °C and a low propagation delay of up to 200 ns. In addition to having a higher temperature safety margin for smaller designs, the drive’s high peak output current enables faster switching by eliminating the need for an extra driver stage. Furthermore, the low propagation delay of this device allows for more accurate PWM regulation while minimizing switching losses.
The optocouplers’ high isolation package enables high working voltages up to 1.140 V, which allows for high voltage inverter stages while still maintaining enough voltage safety margin. These optocouplers are also intended for solar inverters and microinverters. The high noise immunity of 50 kV/µs provided by the RoHS-compliant devices guards against failures in fast switching power stages.
