STMicroelectronics Introduces Tools for Easy Integration of ST BrightSense Global-Shutter Image Sensors
STMicroelectronics has introduced a range of components to simplify the development of applications using its ST BrightSense global-shutter image sensors. These components include hardware kits, evaluation camera modules, and software designed to enhance camera performance in industrial and consumer applications. The ST BrightSense global-shutter sensors capture fast-moving objects without distortion by sampling all pixels simultaneously, unlike traditional rolling shutters. This approach reduces power consumption when used with lighting systems. They utilize backside-illuminated pixel technology for sharp, detailed images and high sensitivity in low-light conditions. Their compact 3D-stacked design facilitates integration into small spaces.
Additionally, they feature on-chip image processing and a MIPI-CSI-2 interface suitable for embedded vision and edge AI applications. The sensor lineup consists of monochrome options like the VD55G0, VD55G1, and VD56G3 (ranging from 0.38Mpixel to 1.5Mpixel) and the VD66GY color sensor (1.5Mpixel). STMicroelectronics offers evaluation camera modules that include the sensor, lens holder, lens, and plug-and-play flex connector to support integration efforts. These modules come in compact sizes down to 5mm² and offer various lens options to accommodate different application needs, allowing for easy component interchangeability.
