Renesas Gen 3 MRDIMM Chipset Boosts DDR5 Speed to 16,000 MT/s
Renesas Electronics Corporation, a leading supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, has unveiled its third-generation (Gen 3) DDR5 Multiplexed Rank Dual In-Line Memory Module (MRDIMM) chipset solutions. These solutions are engineered to deliver DDR5 server-class MRDIMM speeds up to an impressive 16,000 mega transfers per second (MT/s).
This new generation of MRDIMM chipsets is specifically designed to meet the escalating demand for higher memory bandwidth, a critical requirement driven by the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) data centres, cloud infrastructure, and increasingly data-intensive accelerated-compute workloads. Renesas' Gen 3 MRDIMM solutions provide a significant performance boost, offering 25 per cent higher memory bandwidth than its second-generation solutions.
A key differentiator of Renesas' Gen 3 MRDIMM solutions is their ability to deliver enhanced performance while maintaining compatibility with existing DDR5 infrastructure. This allows server platforms to achieve greater performance without necessitating disruptive architectural changes. Renesas offers a complete, field-proven MRDIMM platform, encompassing MRCD, MDB, Power Management ICs (PMIC), Serial Presence Detect (SPD) Hubs, and temperature sensors, ensuring design continuity and accelerated deployment for customers.
