High Density, Low Profile, 700V and 600V MOSFETs for Compact SMPS Designs
Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Limited has announced the release of 700V and 600V αMOS5 Super Junction MOSFET families as their latest generation of high voltage MOSFET. These MOSFETs are designed in SMD-type DFN5x6 and DFN8x8 packages and aims to meet the high efficiency and high-density needs for Quick Charger, Adapter, PC Power, Server, Industrial Power, Telecom, and Hyperscale Datacenter applications.
The αMOS5 family consists of AONV210A60 (Datasheet attached below), a 600V device of 210mΩ in DFN8x8 pack and two 700V devices of 660mΩ and 1.6Ω, namely AONS660A70F, and AONS1R6A70 in the DFN5x6. The DFN5x6 has a 61% smaller footprint (30 mm²) than DPAK with a package thickness of 0.75mm, a 67% lesser height than the DPAK. The low source inductance than the DPAK package makes them ideal for fast switching and small form factor PCB layout.
The DFN8x8 has a product footprint of 64 mm² which is 57% smaller than that of D2PAK and a thickness of 0.9mm which is 80% less than the D2PAK. The DFN8x8 package comparatively has a lower source inductance that helps in the reduction of gate ringing and Turn-on loss (Eon) which further improves the reliability of the device. The DFN8x8 features Kelvin Source connection, which greatly improves switching performance by reducing switch-on loss through separate power and drive sources.
