First Integrated 5 V Load Switch for Enhanced Power Control and System Safety

Nexperia has introduced its load switch product family to expand its analog and logic product range. The NPS4053, an Integrated Circuit (IC), is designed for a smaller footprint and improved system protection to enhance system reliability and safety, with a focus on portable devices like notebooks, desktops, docking stations, and automotive infotainment systems.

Load switches manage current and voltage between power sources and loads. The NPS4053 is usually positioned close to the load, aiding in power sequencing, controlling inrush currents, and powering down to save energy, especially in battery-operated devices. This simplifies circuit design and occupies 85% less PCB space compared to using discrete components.
