Toshiba Launches TLP3487 and TLP3491 High-Current
Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH has expanded its photorelay lineup with the introduction of the TLP3487 and TLP3491. These new solid-state relays are specifically engineered to meet the rigorous demands of modern semiconductor test equipment, a field where precision and reliability are paramount. The TLP3487 and TLP3491 are designed to help engineers maintain critical measurement accuracy while simultaneously optimizing board space, addressing key challenges in high-density testing environments.
Modern semiconductor test systems require precise control of voltages and currents applied to every pin of a device under test (DUT). Photorelays, with their MOSFET outputs, are the preferred choice for switching both power and signal paths due to their reliable, mechanical-wear-free operation. However, a persistent challenge in relay design is off-state leakage current, which can interfere with precise measurements even when the relay is switched off.
To overcome these hurdles, Toshiba has optimized the MOSFET output section of its new photorelays. Both the TLP3487 and TLP3491 offer high current capabilities, achieving a maximum ON-state current of 2.0A, while significantly reducing off-state leakage. This advanced performance, combined with a compact P-SON4 package, differentiates these products by enabling engineers to achieve high-current switching and low leakage with a single component, reducing board area and complexity previously requiring parallel component arrangements.
