Toshiba’s Compact and High-Bandwidth Mux/De-Mux Switches for PCs and Mobile Devices
Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has introduced two new multiplexer/demultiplexer switches, the "TDS4A212MX" and "TDS4B212MX." These switches are designed to handle high-speed differential signals, such as PCIe® 5.0, USB4®, and USB4® Ver.2, making them suitable for use in PCs, server equipment, mobile devices, and more. They can be utilized as a 2-input 1-output Mux switch or a 1-input 2-output De-Mux switch, Both the TDS4B212MX and TDS4A212MX utilize Toshiba's TarfSOI™ process to achieve high bandwidths, with the TDS4B212MX offering a -3-dB bandwidth of 27.5GHz and the TDS4A212MX offering 26.2GHz. This makes them capable of handling high-speed differential signals effectively.
The two models differ in their pin assignments. The TDS4B212MX is optimized for high-frequency characteristics, making it ideal for applications requiring superior signal integrity. The TDS4A212MX has a pin assignment designed with circuit board layout considerations in mind, providing flexibility in various design configurations. Both switches feature low current consumption, with a maximum operating current (Iope) of 150μA. They are also housed in a compact XQFN16 package, measuring 2.4mm x 1.6mm (typical) with a maximum thickness of 0.4mm, making them suitable for space-constrained applications. Their extensive compatibility allows use in various high-performance applications in modern electronic devices.
