MB10S Bridge Rectifier
The MB10S from ON Semiconductor is an integrated full-bridge rectifier in a small SOIC-4 package. It is meant to be used in applications where space is premium, like miniature phone chargers. It has a very high peak current capability, making it ideal for use with switching supplies.

How To Use MB10S Bridge Rectifier
The MB10S is an integrated full-bridge rectifier. It contains four diodes in the same package connected together in a bridge configuration. This is usually done using four diodes on a PCB, but using an integrated solution like MB10S saves space and evens out power dissipation, whereas any of the four discrete diodes usually used might fail. The internal circuit diagram of the MB10S is shown in the figure below.
The 35A peak current rating is particularly helpful when dealing with switching supplies, that require a large decoupling capacitor after the rectifier. This capacitor only charges at the positive and negative peaks of the input sine wave, and this places a large peak load on the rectifier as shown in the figure below, which the MB10S is capable of handling.
Applications
- Miniature switching power supplies
- Phone chargers
- Mains powered appliances
