L6364 - Configurable Dual I/O-Link and SIO Transceiver for Industrial Sensor Applications
STMicroelectronics has introduced the L6364 transceiver that features dual communication channels allowing configurable output for extra drive strength. The device supports IO-Link at COM2 (38.4 kbaud) and COM3 (230.4 kbaud) modes as well as standard Single-Input/Output (SIO) communication. The dual outputs, comprising an IO-Link CQ pin and standard DIO pin, each have a surge-pulse and reverse-polarity protection.
The L6364 can be connected to the host microcontroller(MCU) through an SPI port and the sensor data can be exchanged with the MCU through the UART or with the help of single-byte or multi-byte (SPI) modes. The transceiver is designed with a DC/DC buck converter with programmable output voltage, it also has a low-dropout regulator (LDOs) that can be powered from an external supply voltage or a DC/DC converter.
With an operating voltage of 5V to 35V, L6364 offers flexibility and ease of use, it also provides flexible protection features, with configurable thresholds for thermal-shutdown, UVLO (Under-Voltage Lock-Out), and under-voltage, overvoltage, and overload detection. The Transceiver can provide diagnostics to the MCU through the interrupt pin that includes wake-up recognition, short-circuit, under-voltage, and 7-bit calibrated temperature-sensor reading.
