Vishay's VORA1150: 1500 V 1 Form A SSR for 800 V Battery Monitoring Systems
VORA1150 is Vishay’s new solid-state relay in a 4-pin SMD-8 package designed to meet a creepage distance of 5 mm in output pins. It’s rated for 1500 V and is an Automotive Grade 1 Form A device. A peak repetitive isolation voltage of 1414 V means it can safely block high-voltage spikes, and it also has a maximum leakage current of just 1 µA.
The relay meets high-voltage (hipot) safety criteria for 800 V electric vehicle battery systems and is intended for automotive, energy storage, and industrial uses. After receiving or losing a control signal, it turns on within 150 µs and turns off within 250 µs at most. The relay is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, Vishay Green, and is certified to AEC-Q102.
It operates safely between -40 °C & +125 °C, is well insulated with a comparative tracking index (CTI) of 600, has an avalanche current capability of 0.9 mA, and can withstand an isolation test voltage of 5300 VRMS. Samples and production units of the new relay are now available, with an expected lead time of eight weeks.
