Posifa Technologies has introduced the new PFM8300 series of mass airflow sensors that offer improved accuracy, repeatability, and signal-to-noise performance at a low cost in respiratory care and other medical instruments, compared to the company’s previous-generation solutions. The low cost makes the PMF8300 a cost-effective upgrade solution for new equipment designs and it can be easily manufactured in large quantity if there is a surge in demand.

With compact and robust packaging, the PFM8300 sensors act as key components in ventilators, respirators, oxygen concentrators, nebulizers, and CPAP equipment, where they control the volume of airflow to patients. The device also provides mass flow measurement in spectroscopy and environmental monitoring equipment.

The PMF8300 series sensors are designed with third-generation thermal flow die that carries the advantages of the latest innovations in microfabrication.  The die uses a pair of thermopiles to detect changes in temperature gradient caused by mass flow, this delivers an excellent signal to noise performance and repeatability of 0.5% F.S. Combined with a silicon carbide film, sensor die is robust against water condensation and delivers the highest level of sensitivity at the minimized cost of packaging. The “solid-state” thermal isolation structure eliminates the need for the surface cavity or fragile membrane used in competing technologies.
