Non-Inductive AC-NI Cemented Leaded Wirewound Resistors for Power Electronics
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc has announced a new option for its 5 W AC and AC-AT series cemented, axial-leaded wirewound resistors. Now, these resistors come with the WSZ lead form, making them suitable for surface-mount applications. This includes the AC05 WSZ and the AEC-Q200 qualified AC05-AT WSZ, which are known for their excellent pulse capability. There's also a non-inductive version, the AC05-NI WSZ, designed for fast switching circuits. With the WSZ lead form, these resistors can be assembled on PCBs alongside other surface-mount components. This simplifies the pick and place process, reduces assembly time, and lowers costs. They're ideal for snubber and inrush current limiting in pre-charge and discharge applications found in automotive and industrial electronics, energy meters, and white goods power supplies.
These resistors can handle peak power up to 5 kW for a 1 μs pulse load and come in a range of resistance values from 0.10 Ω to 10 kΩ. Built for tough conditions, the AC05 WSZ and AC05-AT WSZ feature a non-flammable silicone cement coating that meets UL 94 V-0 standards. They operate across a wide temperature range of -55 °C to +250 °C and their wirewound construction ensures they can withstand mechanical stress and thermal shocks at high temperatures. Plus, these resistors are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and have tin-plated terminations, making them compatible with both lead-free and traditional soldering processes.
