New MAX17577 and MAX17578 Synchronous Inverting Converters to Reduce Component Count by Half in Industrial Automation and Signal Conditioning Solutions
Maxim has introduced compact, high-efficiency synchronous inverting DC-DC step-down converters, MAX17577 and MAX17578 with integrated level shifters. These 60V inverting DC-DC converters help save up to 72 % of board space by reducing the component count by half while using 35 % less energy than the closest competitive solutions.
Both ICs reduce the size, heat, and cost, as well as simplify the design of negative output voltage rails needed for analog signals within intelligent IoT devices found in factory automation, building automation, and communications systems. Along with low heat dissipation, these devices also improve system reliability and provide developers with up to six percentage points more efficiency.
The integrated level shifting circuit of these converters reduces component cost and count by as much as 50% while reducing the component area to 60 mm2, a 72% advantage in board space over competitive solutions. Protected against input voltage transients, the device has a wide input voltage range from 4.5V to 60V, this helps in increasing the system robustness in harsh environments. Both the devices are available at a price point of $1.63 (1000-up, FOB USA) on Maxim's official website and from authorized distributors.
