New 500W Power Supplies for Medical Applications that Require Class II Installation and Excellent EMC Performance
XP Power has introduced PBL500 Series, a new range of 500W AC-DC power supplies for medical device applications that require class II (without earth) installation and excellent EMC performance. These devices accept a wide input of 80VAC – 264VAC at 47Hz to 63Hz and offer single output voltages from 12V to 57V. This allows the designers to cover multiple applications by using the same series.
The PBL500 series is available in two mechanical formats: U-Channel units and top fan-covered version. The U-channel units provide 250W when convection cooled and 450-500W with external forced-air cooling whereas the top fan cover units provide a complete 450-500W solution due to the variable speed integral cooling fan for low audible noise. These devices offer low patient leakage current and provide 2 x MOPP from input to case, 2 x MOPP from input to output, and 1 x MOPP from output to ground. Input to case and input to output isolation is rated at 4000VAC and output to ground is 1500VAC.
The PBL500 series comes with a 5V standby supply and protected with features such as over-voltage & over-current protection, remote sense, and thermal shutdown. The U channel version of the device delivers 12V, 0.3A output, this is suitable for powering system cooling fans.
