Microchip Flashtec NVMe 5016: 16-Channel PCIe Gen 5 Controller with flexibility and Security
Microchip Technology has launched the Flashtec® NVMe® 5016 SSD controller, a 16-channel, PCIe® Gen 5 NVMe controller designed for high-performance data centers. This controller is ideal for applications requiring low latency and high throughput, such as online transaction processing, financial data processing, and AI model training. The Flashtec NVMe 5016 offers impressive sequential read speeds over 14 GB/s and random read performance of 3.5 million IOPS, ensuring rapid data processing. It is also power-efficient, delivering more than 2.5 GB of data per watt thanks to advanced power management features. Compatibility with various Flash memory types, including QLC, TLC, and MLC NAND, is supported, with strong Error Correction Code (ECC) to ensure data reliability.
Security features include Secure Boot, encryption for data-in-transit and data-at-rest, and compliance with standards such as FIPS 140-3 Level 2 and TCG Opal, providing robust protection for data integrity. Scalability is enhanced through advanced virtualization capabilities like single root I/O virtualization (SR-IOV), optimizing PCIe resource utilization. The controller also ensures data integrity with NVMe Protection Information (PI), SECDED ECC, Adaptive LDPC error correction, and RAID-based failover recovery mechanisms.
Overall, the Flashtec NVMe 5016 controller enhances data transfer speeds and efficiency in demanding data center environments while ensuring robust security and reliability.
