Magnetic Position Sensor for Precise Detection in Industrial and Consumer Applications

Infineon Technologies AG has introduced the XENSIV™ TLI5590-A6W magnetic position sensor, designed for linear and angular incremental position detection in industrial and consumer applications. The sensor, compliant with JEDEC standard JESD47K, serves as an alternative to optical encoders and resolvers, finding utility in cameras for lens positioning. The TLI5590 employs Infineon's TMR technology, providing high sensitivity, low jitter, and low power consumption for use in high-volume sensor systems. TMR sensors exhibit superior linearity, lower noise, and reduced hysteresis, enabling cost-effective magnetic designs with lower battery consumption. With an extended operating temperature range of up to +125°C, the TLI5590-A6W is versatile for various industrial and consumer applications, including harsh environments, owing to its high-temperature stability.

TLI5590 is a two-channel radiometric gradiometer with high precision for length measurement. Achieving high accuracy of better than 10 µm, the sensor works seamlessly with linear or rotary magnetic encoders.This low-field sensor allows accurate detection with rapidly changing directions. The TLI5590 consists of two TMR Wheatstone bridges, responding to the external magnetic field's direction and strength. Paired with a multipole magnet, each bridge generates sine and cosine signals for relative position measurement. Housed in a compact 6-ball wafer-level package (SG-WFWLB-6-3), the TLI5590 supports miniaturization and position detection in microsystems due to its higher integration density.
