LM201 Single Operational Amplifier

The LM201 is a general-purpose operational amplifier.  Supply voltage is in range of ±5 V to ±22 V. This amplifier offers many features like low current drain, overload protection on the input and output, no latch-up when the common-mode range is exceeded, freedom from oscillations and compensation with a single 30pF capacitor.

Where to use LM201:

The LM201 is a single Package Operational Amplifier. This amplifier offers many protection features which makes its application nearly full-proof: Overload protection on the input and output, no latch-up when the common-mode range is exceeded, and freedom from oscillations and compensation with a single 30 pF capacitor.

Also, the device provides better accuracy and lower noise in high impedance circuitry. The low input currents also make it particularly well suited for long interval integrators or timers, sample and hold circuits and low-frequency waveform generators. So if you are looking for an Op-Amp IC with a single package and full proof protection then this IC might be the right choice for you.


How to Use LM201

As mentioned earlier LM201 is a single op-amp IC. The internal block diagram of this IC is shown below.

When the voltage at the non-inverting input (+) is higher than the voltage at inverting input (-), then the output of the comparator is HIGH. And if the voltage of inverting input (-) is Higher than the non-inverting end (+), then output is LOW. The output of the operational amplifier is the product of the gain and the input voltage. The balance pin of LM201 interacts with an external voltage source that is attached to a variable resistor or other potentiometers to balance the input current and the Compensation pin is used to overcome the problems associated with frequencies in an amplifier.
