TL081 General Purpose Op-Amp
The TL081 is a low cost, high-speed JFET input operational amplifier with an internally trimmed input offset voltage (BI-FET IITM technology). The device requires a low supply current and yet maintains a large gain-bandwidth product and a fast slew rate.

Where to use the TL081 Op-Amp
The TL081 JFET-input operational amplifier is designed to offer a wider selection than any previously developed operational amplifier. TL081 is a single package Op-Amp that has been widely used for quite a long time now. This Op-Amp can be used for many general purpose applications like Voltage follower, Buffers, Comparators, Amplifiers, Adders and much more. So if you looking for a plain old Op-Amp just for some basic circuit design then this IC might be the right choice for you.
How to use TL081 Op-Amp
An Inverting Amplifier Application circuit from the TL081 datasheet is given below. you only need two resistors to use TL081 as an inverting amplifier.
An inverting amplifier takes a positive/negative voltage on the inverting input pin and makes it a negative/positive voltage of the same magnitude. Output at the VOUT pin is feedback to input through the feedback resistor (Rf).
The input and output voltages can be calculated as,
Vin = I.R1 Vout = -I.Rf
