Brief Note on SD103

The cathode terminal of this diode can be identified by using the colour band. Compared to normal diodes Schottky diode has relatively faster switching speed and hence can be used in high frequency switching circuits. It also has low forward drop voltage, the voltage drop across the SD103 diode 370mA.

SD103 Schottky Diode Characteristic Graph

As shown in the graph the Diode has a minimum voltage drop of approx. 0.1V across it when 0.01A is flowing through it, as the current increases the Voltage drop across the diode also increase. The maximum current through the diode is 350mA and the maximum reverse voltage is 40V. The complete details of the diode can be found at the datasheet below.

Applications of Diode

  • Can be used to prevent reverse polarity problem
  • High Frequency Inverters
  • Used as a protection device
  • Current flow regulators
  • Polarity Protection applications
