KSA1220A Description and Usage
The KSA1220A is a PNP Transistor from ON Semiconductors. It is a PNP Power amplifier which is commonly used for high frequency amplification and Audio frequency (AF) amplification.
The KSA1220A transistor is commonly used in Class B Amplifier circuits. The Class B amplifiers require a NPN and PNP transistor to amplify the positive and negative potion of an audio wave respectively. In such circuits the KSA1220A is used for the PNP transistor and as its equivalent NPN KSC2690A transistor is used.
In such circuit when there is no incoming audio signal no current flows and hence a greater efficiency of upto 70% can be achieved. However they suffer from non-linear distortion due to the lad between one transistor switch off and the other switching on. If you are looking at more efficient transistor you can look at class-D amplifiers.
