Low Cost and Compact Automotive Grade Inductors with Integrated E-Shielding
New Automotive Inductors namely, IHLE-5050FH-51 and IHLE-5050FH-5A have been introduced by Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. as an expansion to its IHLE series of low profile, low cost, high current inductors with integrated e-shields for the reduction of EMI. The new commercial and Automotive Grade devices in the 5050 case size eliminate the need for separated board-level Faraday shielding and save board space, it can provide up to -20 dB of electric field reduction at 1cm (above the center of the inductor) when the integrated shield is connected to ground.
The new devices contain the electric and B field associated with EMI in a tin-plated copper integrated shield and operate at high temperatures up to +155°C. Their four terminals are coplanar within ≤ 100 µm, these inductors are optimized for energy storage in DC/DC converters up to 2MHz and provide excellent attenuation of noise in high current filtering applications up to the SRF of the inductor.
The IHLE-5050FH-51 can be used in applications such as desktop PCs, and servers, high current POL converters, low profile, high current power supplies, and battery-powered devices. The IHLE-5050FH-5A is qualified by AEC-Q200 and can be used in automotive engine and transmission control units, diesel injection drivers, noise suppression for motors, windshield wipers, power mirrors and seats, entertainment/navigation systems, heating, and ventilation blowers, and LED and HID lighting.

The composite construction of the devices reduces buzz to ultra-low levels and they offer high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, and mechanical shock and handle high transient current spikes without saturation. The samples of the new IHLE devices are available now with lead times of nine weeks for large orders.
