Infineon Brings Advanced Cockpit Graphics With TRAVEO™ T2G CYT4EN
Infineon Technologies AG introduced the TRAVEO™ T2G CYT4EN microcontroller (MCU), designed to deliver advanced graphics capabilities to cost-effective automotive instrument clusters and display applications, including two-wheelers. Announced on October 6, 2026, this device aims to reduce system complexity and the bill of materials compared to traditional system-on-chip (SoC)-based platforms.
A key differentiator of the TRAVEO™ CYT4EN is its ability to leverage external LPDDR4 memory, enabling capabilities typically found in more complex SoC-based systems. It supports advanced 2.5D graphics and 3D scene rendering, can drive displays up to Full HD resolution, and simultaneously power two displays. The device also boasts deterministic boot times below 150 milliseconds, significantly faster than the multi-second initialization common in complex SoC platforms.
The TRAVEO T2G CYT4EN integrates high-performance processing with automotive-grade safety and security. It supports functional safety up to ASIL-B according to ISO 26262 and was developed in accordance with ISO 21434 for automotive cybersecurity. An independent voltage domain allows central system functions to remain active in low-power modes, enhancing efficiency. Its high integration simplifies smart cockpit implementations, potentially eliminating additional MCUs for system management, allowing for simplified PCB layouts with as few as six layers, and avoiding active cooling due to optimised power efficiency. Infineon collaborated with Micron to optimize the LPDDR4 memory subsystem for these advanced graphics capabilities.
