Field-Plated Super Barrier Rectifier® Devices from Diodes Incorporated Deliver Industry-Leading Efficiency

Diodes Incorporated SBRFP Super Barrier Rectifier Devices
Diodes Incorporated SBRFP Super Barrier Rectifier Devices

Diodes Incorporated announces a family of automotive-compliant field-plated Super Barrier Rectifier (SBRFP) products, including the 2A SBRFP2M60P1Q and SBRFP2M60SAFQ, the 3A SBRFP3M60SAFQ, and the 8A SBRFP8A60P5Q. These devices are engineered as direct drop-in replacements for comparable Schottky and PN junction diodes, distinguished by their ultra-low forward voltage (V_F) and low reverse leakage current (I_R).

The SBRFP devices are designed to enhance the efficiency and reliability of critical automotive systems such as DC-DC converters, reverse-polarity protection (RPP), battery charging systems, automotive LED lighting, and transmission control systems. They leverage Diodes' proprietary and patented Super Barrier Rectifier technology, which employs a metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) manufacturing process to overcome the inherent limitations of traditional Schottky and PN junction diodes.

A key differentiator is the SBRFP8A60P5Q, which delivers a maximum forward voltage of 0.55V at 8A, noted as the industry's lowest maximum forward voltage at that current. The SBRFP2M60P1Q and SBRFP3M60SAFQ further contribute to efficiency with maximum leakage currents of 12µA and 7µA, respectively, under specified temperature conditions. These characteristics are crucial for improving overall efficiency and minimizing the risk of thermal runaway, especially in high-temperature operating environments.

Beyond electrical performance, the new SBRFP devices offer superior avalanche capability compared to conventional Schottky rectifiers, with avalanche energy ratings reaching up to 145mJ depending on the specific device. The family is available in robust PowerDI®123, PowerDI5, and SMAF packages, ensuring stable operation across a wide junction temperature range of -55°C to +175°C. Furthermore, these products are automotive-compliant, featuring AEC qualification, manufacturing in IATF 16949-certified facilities, and support for PPAP documents.
