This advanced proximity sensor integrates a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL), a photodiode, an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), and a smart dual I2C slave address within a miniature 1.6 mm x 1.0 mm x 0.35 mm transparent mold package. Its innovative isolation wall design is a key differentiator, contributing to its robust performance.

The VCNL36829UM stands out with a 44% smaller volume compared to previous-generation solutions, coupled with a higher 14-bit proximity resolution and strong sunlight immunity up to 200 klx.
