New High-Density 2-in-1 SiC Molded Modules for xEV Traction Inverters
ROHM introduces the TRCDRIVE pack™ series, which includes four models of SiC molded modules designed for xEV traction inverters. These modules are optimized to handle power outputs of up to 300kW. They offer high power density and a unique terminal configuration, aiming to address challenges related to the size, efficiency, and installation time of traction inverters in electric vehicles. The TRCDRIVE pack™ series is developed to support the increasing demand for more efficient and compact electric powertrain systems in vehicles. ROHM tackles the challenges associated with SiC power devices by focusing on achieving low loss in a smaller package.
By utilizing a unique heat dissipation structure and integrating 4th Generation SiC MOSFETs with low ON resistance, these modules achieve a higher power density compared to standard SiC molded modules. These modules feature control signal terminals with press fit pins for easy connection, reducing the time required for installation. Additionally, they are designed to minimize inductance, resulting in lower switching losses during operation.
