Allegro MicroSystems has announced the addition of the AHV85000 and AHV85040 isolated gate-driver ICs to its High Voltage Power-Thru™ portfolio. These ICs are designed to work with external transformers, providing enhanced design flexibility and power efficiency for applications such as solar inverters, electric vehicle (xEV) charging infrastructure, energy storage systems (ESS), and data center power supplies. The new gate-driver ICs expand on Allegro’s existing Power-Thru technology by moving the isolation transformer from an internal to an external component. This allows engineers to select transformers that best meet their specific design requirements, offering greater flexibility in isolation, power, and layout design.

The AHV85000 and AHV85040 ICs from Allegro MicroSystems feature an external transformer configuration that streamlines system architecture, optimizes cost and space, and offers engineers the flexibility to place the isolation barrier anywhere in the system and select the most appropriate transformer. These ICs are especially beneficial for clean energy and high-efficiency power systems, allowing for customized transformer selection and isolation level configuration to create efficient, tailored power solutions.
