Diodes' 10Gbps Automotive-Compliant Crossbar Switch Enhances In-Car USB Connectivity
Diodes Incorporated (Diodes) has introduced a 10Gbps automotive-compliant crossbar switch aimed at enhancing in-car connectivity. The PI3USB31532Q facilitates the routing of USB 3.2 and DisplayPort™ 2.1 signals via a USB Type-C® connector, ensuring high signal integrity and power efficiency compared to traditional crossbar multiplexers and ReDrivers™. Targeted for rear-seat entertainment systems and smart cockpits with large, high-definition displays, this switch offers three configuration modes compliant with USB Type-C standards. It supports various connection options, including single lane USB 3.2 Gen 2, one lane USB 3.2 Gen 2 plus two channels of DP 2.1 UHBR10, or four channels of DP 2.1 UHBR10. Control can be managed via I2C or on-chip logic using external pins.
The compact size of the PI3USB31532Q, packaged in 40-pin W-QFN3060-40 (3mm x 6mm), offers flexibility and performance advantages. It ensures high signal integrity with an -3dB bandwidth of 8.3GHz, and low insertion loss, return loss, and crosstalk of -1.7dB, -15dB, and -38dB respectively at 10Gbps. Additionally, the switch is automotive compliant* qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 2, suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -40°C to +105°C, manufactured in IATF 16949 certified facilities, and is PPAP capable.
