WYUR Sports Sensor Connectivity Solutions for New and Legacy Fitness Equipment
North Pole Engineering has launched the latest sports sensor connectivity solutions, WYUR and CORD. These devices, powered by Nordic Semiconductor's nRF52832 and nRF52840 SoCs, enable easy connections between different wireless fitness equipment and protocols. WYUR and CORD convert data between ANT+ and Bluetooth LE fitness sensors, making it compatible with various devices like Apple TV and virtual training apps.
At the heart of WYUR and CORD is the Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF52832 SoC equipped with a 64 MHz, 32-bit Arm Cortex M4 processor with a floating-point unit (FPU). It performs multiprotocol translation, converting data between ANT+ and Bluetooth LE protocols. This enables seamless compatibility with a wide range of fitness sensors and devices. WYUR includes the 'heartbeatz' app, allowing it to convert heart rate data from sources like Apple Watch into ANT+ or Bluetooth LE heart rate data. It can also convert heart rate data to Polar '5 KHz' heart rate. In addition to data conversion, WYUR operates as a standalone cycling speed sensor, cycling cadence sensor, and running cadence-only footpod. It integrates a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) for cycling speed, cycling cadence, and step detection.
WYUR utilizes a coin cell battery, providing extended battery life ranging from a couple of months to over a year depending on usage and configuration. The low power characteristics of the Nordic nRF52832 SoC and the efficient power management capabilities of Nordic SoC contribute to its efficiency.
