ESP12E vs ESP12F WiFi Modules Introduction

The ESP12E and ESP12F are two variants of the popular ESP8266 WiFi-enabled microcontroller. There have been several variants of the board manufactured by different companies, each with different features. In this article, we will take a look at the differences between ESP12E and ESP12F.
Specifications Of ESP12E and ESP12F
| Specification | ESP12E | ESP12F |
| Supply Voltage | 3.0V to 3.6V | 3.0V to 3.6V |
| Operating Current | 80mA avg. | 80mA avg. |
| WiFi Parameters |
 |
 |
| Security | WPA/WPA2 | WPA/WPA2 |
| Output Power |
 |
 |
The ESP12F is a newer and more updated version of the ESP12E and features a better antenna design, hence the better output power.
Note: More technical details can be found in the ESP12E datasheet and ESP12F datasheet given at the end of this page.
Major Differences between ESP12E and ESP12F
| ESP12E | ESP12F |
| Relatively worse transmission power | Relatively better transmission power thanks to improved antenna design |
Conclusion
The ESP12E and ESP12F are essentially the same modules, but the ESP12F is an improved version of the ESP12E and has a better antenna design, which leads to better output power.
