RPA150-Q Series of 16:1 Ultra-Wide DC/DC Converters in a High-Isolation Quarter Brick Format for Rail Applications
The RPA150-Q series of 14.4V to 170V (200V for 1s) 16:1 ultra-wide input high-isolation quarter-brick DC/DC converter has been released by RECOM targeting the rail and harsh industrial applications. With 12, 24 and 54VDC output options, the device has a +10/-20% wide trim range (+18/-20% for 24V output). With enough airflow, the device can offer high efficiency and 150W output at a temperature range from -40°C up to at least 65°C for every variant, or at least 75°C with baseplate cooling.
The series can operate down to 12V and up to 200V for one second, this allows dips and surges across various nominal voltages from 24V to 110VDC defined by rail standards EN 50155 and RIA12, with some margin. The device offers 4.242kV/1 min reinforced isolation with safety certifications to EN/UL 62368-1 and CAN/CSA-C22.2 N0. 62368-1 up to 5500m altitude, along with functional and safety compliance to rail standards EN 50155 and EN 45545-2.
When used with external filtering the RPA150-Q Series can meet EMC standards EN 55022 and EN 55011, along with EN 50121-3-2 for rail applications. The device complies with the EN 61373 standards, hence the device can be used for a high shock and vibration rail environment and includes threaded inserts for secure mounting to a PCB or bulkhead. The product is fully featured with trim, remote sense, and remote on/off control. Protection includes under-voltage lockout, over-temperature, and output over-voltage/over-current.
