MAX77655 - Ultra-High Efficiency SIMO Power Management IC (PMIC) with High Power Density for Portable and Wearable Applications
Maxim Integrated has introduced MAX77655, a single-inductor multiple-output (SIMO) power management IC (PMIC) for providing the highest-density (85%) power solution for extremely compact next-generation devices. The PMIC provides 700 mA across four buck-boost channels and requires only one inductor within a total solution size of 17mm2, a 70% reduction in solution size compared to the nearest competition.
By sharing one inductor among all four supplies in a single 3.95mm2 IC, MAX77655 allows the designers to develop ultra-small portable devices. With a 90% regulated efficiency during moderate and heavy load and consumption of the only 6.9µA of quiescent current during light load conditions, the device can extend the battery life of the device it is being used.
The compact size and ultra-high efficiency of MAX77655 SIMO PMIC make it a suitable solution for TWS Bluetooth headphones/hearables, fitness, health, activity monitors, and smartwatches, portable devices, Internet of Things (IoT) sensor nodes, and health monitors.
The PMIC is designed with a bidirectional I2C interface that allows the configuration and status checking of the devices. It also has an internal on/off controller that provides a controlled startup sequence for the regulators and provides supervisory functionality when the devices are on.
