Single Point Direct Time of Flight LiDAR Platform with Fast Response Time and High Detection Efficiency for Industrial Range Finding Applications
ON Semiconductors has introduced a single point direct Time of Flight (dToF) light detection and ranging (LiDAR) Solution that is powered by the Silicon Photomultiplier (SiPM) technology. The SiPM technology used in the device helps in providing fast response time and high detection efficiency, this helps to overcome the challenges in traditional photodiodes based solutions.
The new SiPM dTOF LiDAR Platform is the best solution for low cost, single point LiDAR that OEMs can adapt and take into production to create industrial range finding applications. The device is designed with the NIR laser diode, SiPM sensor, and optics, as well as the digital processing that is necessary for converting the detected signals into elapsed time and elapsed time into distance.
ON semiconductors provides all the design data for the reference platform, covering the schematics, BoM, Gerber files, and PCB design files to accelerate the time to market. The histograms generated make the device suitable for a variety of applications such as range finding, collision detection, and 3D mapping.
The SiPM dToF LiDAR Platform can detect objects at distances between 10 cm and 23 m and provides out-of-the-box operation with a dedicated GUI. The design is FDA Class 1 certified and compliant with IEC / EN 60825-1:2014 and 21 CFR 1040.10/ 1040.11 laser safety standards.
