Vishay Intertechnology has expanded its portfolio of Automotive Grade common mode chokes with four new surface-mount devices: the Vishay Dale ICM5050-A, ICM6050-A, IFLN-1210BE-A, and IFLN-1812CZ-A. These components are designed to enhance system efficiency and conserve board space in various automotive and battery-powered applications. Manufactured by Vishay Dale, these chokes are AEC-Q200 qualified, ensuring their reliability and performance in demanding automotive environments.

A key differentiator for these new common mode chokes is their combination of low DCR (DC Resistance) with high current capability and impedance, which directly contributes to reduced power losses and increased efficiency. While typical toroidal common mode chokes often exhibit DCR values around 23 mΩ, the new Vishay Dale devices offer significantly lower DCR, ranging from 0.4 mΩ to 12 mΩ. This allows them to effectively suppress noise and filter signals in critical power supply and communication systems.

Offered in compact case sizes, these devices provide a space-saving alternative to larger toroidal common mode chokes. For instance, the ICM5050-A and ICM6050-A series, which are wirewound ferrite chokes, offer high current capabilities up to 14 A. The IFLN-1210BE-A and IFLN-1812CZ-A series, featuring precision winding, provide excellent common-mode impedance up to 11 Ω at 100 MHz, making them highly effective for EMI noise suppression. All devices are designed for high-temperature operation up to +150 °C.
