VE-Trac Power Integrated Modules (PIMs) for High Voltage Automotive Applications
ON Semiconductor has released its first two power integrated modules devices NVG800A75L4DSC and NVH820S75L4SPB, which are ideally suited for all types of electrically-powered vehicles including battery electric vehicles (BEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and full hybrid vehicles (HEV). ON Semiconductor enables two traction inverter design platforms, VE-Trac Dual and VE-Trac Direct.
VE-Trac Dual is a collection of Dual Side Cool (DSC) half-bridge modules that are stackable and scalable within a compact footprint, whereas VE-Trac Direct offers performance and benefits, including direct cooling for excellent thermal performance.
The NVG800A75L4DSC module of the VE-Trac Dual platform is rated to 750V at 800A whereas the NVH820S75L4SPB module of VE-Trac Direct is the AQG-324 qualified and housed with a six-pack configuration allowing multi-sourcing to be achieved with minimal layout changes. The VE-Trac Direct platform will allow simple and rapid scaling of power for different vehicle platforms and applications. These devices can be used in the applications of converter DC battery output to power AC traction motors and high power DC-DC converter.

Both VE-Trac Direct and VE-Trac Dual platforms can operate continuously at junction temperature up to 175C, allowing more power to be delivered within the compact footprint of the modular solution.
