Traco Power recently manufactured the ultra-compact 6 Watt DC/DC converter designed for industrial applications. These converters are part of The TEL 6 (WI) Series, this company known for producing power supply solutions. The "DIP-16" in the product description refers to the package type, which is a Dual Inline Package with 16 pins for through-hole mounting on a printed circuit board (PCB).

The TEL 6WI Series comprises isolated 6 Watt converters housed in an exceptionally compact DIP-16 metal package. It establishes a new industry standard for power density in this wattage category, boasting an impressive power density of 1.6 W/cm³. This nearly doubles the power density when compared to 6 Watt converters housed in DIP-24 packages.

One standout feature of the TEL 6WI Series is its wide 4:1 input voltage range, providing versatility in various input voltage conditions. Moreover, these converters exhibit a remarkable high efficiency of up to 87%, enabling them to operate at temperatures as high as +70°C at full load and up to 85°C with a 60% load.

A notable advantage is that these converters require only a single input capacitor (SMD), which ensures compliance with conducted and radiated emission standards, specifically meeting EN 55032 class A.
