AH1899A/B/S - Hall-Effect Switches

Diodes Incorporated has introduced three new Hall-effect switches, known as AH1899A/B/S specifically designed to operate at low voltage and consume minimal power. These switches are particularly useful for prolonging the battery life of mobile and portable devices. They serve the purpose of detecting whether covers and cases are open or closed in devices like smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, and handheld gaming consoles, as well as enabling proximity detection and contactless switching. The AH1899A/B/S switches have a voltage range of 1.1V to 2.0V, making them compatible with modern application chipsets that typically operate at 1.2V. Their efficient design helps reduce power consumption, with an average operating current as low as 0.95µA at 1.2V, ultimately contributing to longer battery life. These switches also feature a hibernating clocking system, further optimizing energy usage.

One notable aspect of these switches is their ability to detect both north and south magnetic poles near the surface of the package, making them versatile for various applications. They utilize advanced technology to maintain consistent performance despite changes in voltage and temperature. Designers can choose between two sensitivity grades to customize the switch response according to their needs. Packaged as X2-DFN1010-4 (Type B) surface-mount devices, these switches offer space-saving benefits, with a compact size of just 1.0mm x 1.0mm and a height of 0.4mm. Additionally, they come with integrated pull-up and pull-down resistors, reducing the need for additional components and simplifying circuit design.
