Recom introduces the RAC03-K/SMT series, a popular and cost-effective range of miniature AC/DC converters now available in SMT format. These converters operate from a universal input range of 85 – 265VAC (alternatively 120 – 370VDC) and offer regulated outputs of 3.3, 5, 12, 15, 18, or 24VDC, rated at 3W continuous power at up to 60°C ambient (50°C for the 3.3V and 4V variants). The RAC03-K/SMT series has an MTBF of nearly 2 million hours at 25°C (MIL-HDBK-217, GB conditions) and includes over-current and short circuit protection. These converters are suitable for various applications, including IoT nodes, home and industrial automation, sensors, household and monitoring devices, and auxiliary power supplies in larger products. Specific applications include building and home automation, datacom and telecom, e-mobility, energy sector, and industrial and automation infrastructure.

The RAC03-K/SMT series features a compact footprint of approximately 1 inch square, or 27.7 x 27.83mm, including 'gullwing' SMT terminations, with a height of 19mm. These converters can be reflow soldered using a standard JEDEC profile. They comply with IEC/EN/UL62368-1, EN60335-1, and IEC61558-1 safety standards for reinforced isolation and are rated as ‘Limited Power Source,’ Class II, and OVC II up to 6000m (IEC 60335-1). The series meets ‘Class B’ conducted EMI limits without external components for floating loads, and no-load power consumption is typically 100mW.
