New PolySwitch Low Rho SMD Series to Provide Robust Overcurrent Protection in Electronics and Portable Battery Applications

Littelfuse PolySwitch Low Rho SMD Series
PolySwitch Low Rho SMD Series

Littelfuse has introduced 23 new ratings of PolySwitch Low Rho SMD series of PPTC (Polymer Positive Temperature Coefficient) devices in surface mountable sizes from 0402 to 2920. The new devices provide robust overcurrent protection for electronics applications where ultra-low internal resistance, ultra-low voltage drop, and automatic resettable protection are desired.

With a maximum voltage range of 6.0V to 24V, the new devices offer lower resistance of 1m and hold currents from 0.75A to 9.0A. All these features make the Low Rho Resettable PPTCs suitable for applications such as consumer electronics, mobile and wearables, servers and computing equipment, portable medical devices, USB Type A and Type B ports, and Lithium batteries.

These Low Rho PPTC devices are UL recognized and TUV approved and have a maximum fault current of 50A. Available in the tape and reel format, the samples of the devices can be ordered through authorized Littelfuse distributors worldwide.

Features of Low Rho SMD Series of PPTCs

  • Ultra-low internal resistance
  • Very thin profile
  • Miniature size saves board space
  • Allows a higher hold current device in a smaller factor and lower profile as compared to a standard PPTC
  • Compatible with high-temperature solders
  • UL recognized and TUV approved
  • Fast response to fault currents
  • Broadest range of Hold Current ratings (100mA to 9A)
