Long-Life Ceramic/Quartz-Based UVC Emitting Diode in Compact SMD Package
Vishay Intertechnology added a new compact SMD device VLMU35CL..-280-120 to its portfolio of short wavelength ultraviolet (UVC) emitting diodes for medical applications such as sterilization, sanitation, and purification. The VLMU35CL..-280-120 is designed to replace mercury UVC lamps and delivers an extremely long lifetime in a 3.5 mm by 3.5 mm by 1.2 mm surface-mount package with a quartz window that eliminates the need for an external lens. The device is built on AlGaN technology and is an ideal solution for the applications such as water and air purification, physical surface sterilization, medical disinfection, portable sanitizers and sensing of gases, germs, DNA because of its advanced features.
The key specifications incude:
- Emission Angle: ± 60°
- Radiant Power: 3.2 mW at 20 mA or 7.5 mW at 50 mA
- Maximum Forward Voltage: 6.5 V
- Wavelength Range: 265 nm to 285 nm
- Forward Current: up to 70 mA
- Color: Ultraviolet
The VLMU35CL..-280-120 is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green and comes in SMD Ceramic package. Also the device is compatible with reflow soldering processes and features a Moisture Sensitivity Level of 3 in accordance with J-STD-020.
Samples of the new VLMU35CL..-280-120 UVC emitting diode are available now along with availability of production quantities with lead times of four to six weeks.
