Littelfuse Launches TP7.0SMD-XC Automotive TVS Diodes with Extremely Low Clamping Voltage
Littelfuse, Inc. announced the launch of its TP7.0SMD-XC Series automotive-grade transient voltage suppression (TVS) diodes on October 13, 2026. This series, led by the TP7.0SMD24CA-XC, is engineered to safeguard sensitive automotive integrated circuits (ICs) by offering an extremely low, flat-clamping voltage. It is capable of handling up to 7000 W of peak pulse power, all within a compact surface-mount package.
Conventional TVS devices often fall short of achieving sufficiently low clamping levels on their own, often requiring multiple devices in series. This approach significantly increases component costs, design complexity, and required PCB space. The TP7.0SMD-XC series directly addresses these challenges by integrating a low, flat 24 V clamping voltage with 7000 W of peak pulse power into a single DO-214AB (SMC) package. According to Littelfuse, this marks the first instance of the company combining this level of surge capability with foldback clamping performance in an SMC device.
Utilizing advanced foldback technology, the TP7.0SMD-XC series provides crucial additional headroom for protecting low absolute maximum rating (AMR) ICs, while also ensuring compliance with automotive 12 V and 24 V jump-start requirements. This innovative design reduces or eliminates the need for multiple series-connected TVS devices, thereby helping to lower bill-of-materials (BOM) costs and optimize board space. The series is AEC-Q101 qualified and PPAP capable, and it enables the selection of lower-voltage-rated MOSFETs without compromising automotive reliability.
