CIPOS Maxi IM828 - 1200V Integrated Power Module (IPM) to Increase System Reliability, Optimize PCB Size, and Reduce System Costs
Infineon Technologies has introduced a 1200 V transfer molded silicon carbide (SiC) integrated power module (IPM). The CIPOS Maxi IPM IM828 series provides a compact inverter solution with excellent thermal conduction, a wide range of switching speeds for three-phase AC motors and permanent magnet motors in variable speed drive applications.
The CIPOS Maxi IPM increase system reliability, optimize PCB size and system costs by integrating an improved 6-channel 1200 V silicon on insulator (SOI) gate driver and six CoolSiC MOSFETs. The DIP 36x23D housing makes it the smallest package for 1200 V IPMs with the highest power density and best performance in its class.
The IM828 series showcases an excellent thermal performance and electrical isolation with the help of its isolated dual-in-line molded housing and it meets the EMI requirements and overload protection of demanding designs. The IPM is best suited for industrial motor drives, pumps drives, and active filters for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).
Along with the protection features such as under-voltage lockout (UVLO) at all channels and over current shutdown protection, the rugged 6-channel SOI gate driver of the SiC IPM provides built-in dead time to prevent damages from transients. The multi-function pin of the IPM allows it to offer high design flexibility for various purposes. The CIPOS Maxi IM828 series comprises 20 A IM828-XCC for power ratings of up to 4.8 kW.
