These resistors are built on an advanced aluminium nitride (AlN) substrate, designed to deliver exceptional power handling and high-frequency performance within standard surface-mount footprints. This innovation allows designers to achieve higher power density without increasing board space or compromising RF performance, eliminating the need for a heatsink in many applications.
The CHEP series sets a new standard for power handling in its class, significantly outperforming competing solutions often rated below 1 W. The devices offer standard power ratings of 1.2 W in the 0402 case size and 1.8 W in the 0603 case size. When mounted according to datasheet guidelines, these ratings can increase by 50 % to 1.8 W and 2.8 W, respectively, enabling greater power density in smaller form factors.
A key differentiator of the CHEP series is its ability to operate across a wide frequency range while minimizing internal reactance. With LC values as low as 1 x 10⁻²⁴, these resistors exhibit low parasitics, which helps reduce phase shift, maintain consistent impedance, and minimize noise, thereby improving overall RF performance.
