Diodes Incorporated has today launched a new 8 channel high speed bidirectional level shifter for Open-Drain and Push-pull applications. This new IC called PL4UL5V108 is designed to be used for inter IC communications operating on different voltage levels. The IC can supports up to 100 MHz up-translation and more than that for down-translation with a capacitive load less than 30pF. Because of this high speed it can support a wide range of communication protocols like UART, SMBus, PMBus, IIC, SPI etc making it suitable for PC, servers, networking, telecom and consumer electronics applications.

 

This level shifter operates between <0.9V and 5V across eight I/O channels, each of which can be configured with different voltage translation levels for system flexibility. On-resistance is very low, yielding minimal signal distortion, while the wider translation voltage range of the PI4ULS5V108 suits consumer interfaces. Enable and I/O pins are ESD protected (8kV HBM and 1kV CDM). The IC can perform the following level translations.
