The G3MB-202P is a Solid state relay with a load handling capacity of up to 100-240V AC. G3MB-202P uses the photocoupling principle for the actuation of the relay module. SSR like G3MB-202P are faster, creates no noise, and have a longer lifespan as compared to an electromagnetic relay.

Working of G3MB-202P Solid State Relay

A solid-state relay works on a different principle than other EMR relays. The SSR relays are made up of semiconductors and not mechanical parts and work by isolating a low-voltage circuit from a higher voltage circuit with the help of optocouplers. As per the basic working of an optocoupler, whenever the control input is given to the SSR relay, the internal LED lights up and produces a light signal which is received by a photosensitive semiconductor which then converts light energy into electrical energy and switches the circuit. These kinds of relay operate at high speed and have low power consumption.

 

Connecting G3MB-202P Solid State Relay to an MCU/MPU

Connecting a G3MB-202P Solid State Relay to a microcontroller/microprocessor is pretty easy. The relay requires a high/low signal to operate(to switch).

G3MB-202P Solid State Relay with MCU

The 3(+) pin can be connected to a digital pin of the MCU/MPU and the 4(-) to the ground, The load to be controlled via the relay can be connected to the relay’s 1 and 2 pins as shown in the image below. A simple program for digital write can be written and the bulb can be controlled using the SSR.

 

Note: Some of the G3MB-202P Solid State Relay boards might come with the Low-level trigger label, which means that the relay will switch when a low(0) signal is provided to it
