EL4581 Video Sync Separator
The EL4581 is a Video Sync Separator IC that is manufactured using Elantec’s high-performance analog CMOS process. EL4581 extracts timing information from standard negative-going video sync found in NTSC, PAL, and SECAM broadcast systems.

Where to use the EL4581 Video Sync Separator IC:
The EL14581 is used in many video-related application where composite video and RGB video is involved. It can also be used in non-standard formats and with computer graphics systems at higher scan rates, by adjusting a single external resistor. EL4581 can be used to replace the industry-standard LM1881, offering improved performance and reduced power consumption.
So if you are looking for a composite video conversion IC and a replacement for LM1881then LM4581 might be of interest to you.
How to use EL4581:
EL1881 can work with a minimum number of components. Along with the IC, it only requires one resistor and a couple of capacitors. The typical connection diagram for EL4581 is shown below.
The composite video input is fed to pin 2 via a 0.1µF capacitor. The capacitor acts as a parasitic capacitor to filter noise. Resistor (RSET) at pin 6 determines the value of the reference current. LM4581 IC has an operating voltage from 5-12V, but normally it is operated either in +5V or +12V. The output video which is free of composite and can be used on RGB monitors can be obtained from pin 3.
Applications of EL4581:
- PCMCIA applications
- A/D drivers
- Line drivers
- Portable computers
- High-speed communications
- RGB applications
- Broadcast equipment
- Active filtering
