CR2016 is a lithium coin battery commonly used in automotive applications, sensors, medical thermometers, and other electronics applications. This cell is made of a combination of lithium and manganese dioxide. At all operating temperatures, the self-discharge rate of this cell is very low. After 10 years, it has 90% of its capacity.

The use of this cell is safe to use in various applications. But we have to store and keep this equipment away from children. It contains lead which make serious harm after swallowing. The life of this cell is good and it does not require to replace for a long time. Hence, it is maintenance-free equipment.
